Deb Atwood graduated from CSUH in 1976 with a BA in English lit. She started writing in 1996. She spent a year in night school, then a year studying under the incomparable Sara McAulay, and won the R.V. Williams Memorial prize for short fiction. She is currently earning her MFA in Creative Writing at St Mary's. In the twenty years between graduating from college and beginning to write, she worked in social services and retail. For the past ten years, she has served on boards of directors of two nonprofits with an interest in homelessness.
