Sara McAulay directs the Creative Writing Program at CSUH. This issue of TATTOO HIGHWAY was produced by students in her summer quarter graduate workshop, English 6090. She is the author of three novels and numerous works of short fiction and creative nonfiction, and has been the recipient of NEA and New Jersey State Council on the Arts Fellowships in fiction. A self-styled computer geek (Mac variety) who studied art before she turned to writing, she is interested in hypertext, and in the relationship between text and graphics. In her old age she has taken up welding and glass-fusing, and spends much of her time hanging around salvage yards looking for raw material for her found-object (okay, "junk") sculptures.
